American Mission Hospital (AMH) has been awarded Diamond status once again, the highest level among accreditation statuses given by Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).

NHRA, after its recent survey of AMH’s policies and procedures, stated on Tuesday, 4 May 2021, that the hospital has attained more than 95% of the required accreditation standards, to qualify for this awarding. The hospital’s Manama main branch and also the Amwaj and Saar Medical Centres have attained this distinction of a Diamond Status.

NHRA awards this accreditation once every three years. It has first awarded this status to the hospital first in 2017, and now it is re-accredited.

Congratulating the staff, Dr George Cheriyan the corporate CEO and Ms Julia Tovey, the Group CEO, in a joint letter to their staff said, “Your tireless efforts on the front line each day in improving quality, patient safety and experience has paid off well. There is no finish line for Excellence in Quality”.

“The last 12 months have been particularly difficult for all of us due to the effects of the Covid Pandemic. A resilient and high performing organization will come through this successfully”, they added.

Fourteen years earlier too, in 2007 too, AMH had become the first hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain to have achieved this kind of an accreditation through ACHS International (ACHSI), Australia’s leading health care accreditation agency, which is recognized by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), an accreditation which was also reaffirmed in 2010.
