Recognising the growing interest and importance of POCUS in Pediatric practice, it seemed timely and appropriate to run this basic point of care (POC) workshop.
It is for those who have the keenness to adopt POCUS in their practice, as an activity of skill development and learning in the theme of the Pediatric Symposium of 'promoting best practices in pediatrics'.

Your POCUS instructors
Dr Vanitha Jagannath
Workshop Leader
She is a pediatrician at American Mission Hospital and is a POCUS enthusiast. She has over 3 years of experience in POCUS for hospital pediatrics and neonatology.
She is the editor of the
POCUS Atlas Junior, and has developed an Assessment Program for POCUS Academy, apart from authoring some original work in the field of POCUS. She has delivered lectures in some peer-reviewed platforms on the topics related to Pediatric POCUS.
Dr Gaylan Katter
Another POCUS enthusiast, Dr Gaylan Katter, will join Dr Vanitha in conducting the workshop. He has similar experience profile in pediatrics and POCUS.
Dr Gaylan Katter is a Pediatrician who currently heads AMH's Amwaj Medical facility
3-Hour Hands-On POCUS Workshop - Plan

Introduction
(15 minutes)
- Welcome and introductions
- Overview of POCUS: What is it? Why is it important?
- Basic ultrasound physics: how images are formed
- Safety guidelines for ultrasound use
- Equipment overview and demonstration
Hands-on Practice: Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST)
(45 minutes)
- Demonstrate FAST exam technique
- Divide participants into small groups
- Provide ultrasound machines and live volunteers
- Guided practice on identifying key structures (liver, spleen, kidneys, heart)
- Practice identifying free fluid in different regions (pericardium, abdomen, pelvis)
- Discuss interpretation of findings
Hands-on Practice: Lung Ultrasound
(45 minutes)
- Demonstrate lung ultrasound technique (including M-mode)
- Divide participants into small groups
- Provide ultrasound machines and volunteers
- Guided practice on identifying normal lung tissue
- Practice identifying pleural effusions, pneumothorax, and B-lines
- Discuss interpretation of findings
Hands-on Practice: Brief overview on Focused Cardiac Ultrasound
(15 minutes)
- Demonstrate focused cardiac ultrasound technique (including parasternal long and short axis views)
- Divide participants into small groups
- Provide ultrasound machines and volunteers
- Guided practice on identifying key structures (heart chambers, valves, aorta)
- Practice identifying pericardial effusion
- Discuss interpretation of findings
Case-Based Learning and Q&A
(30 minutes)
- Present clinical cases with ultrasound images
- Facilitate group discussion and interpretation
- Answer questions from participants
Online Post workshop survey for evaluation
Certificate handing over after the conclusion of workshop

The workshop will be nominally priced at
10 BD for all
Volunteers for subject simulation are welcome ( around 5 we need) we will exempt 50% charge
Kids of around age 5 will be needed as well for volunteers, who will get an appreciation Certificate and loads of kid treats
Please note this workshop will not earn you NHRA CME points
Certificates of Attendance will, however, be given to all attendees
